Strains Patients Reach For Before Dinner

Appetite comes up at the counter constantly, and it is one of the asks where we are most careful about what we say. We can tell you which jars patients bring up in that conversation. We cannot tell you what cannabis will do for you, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

    What our staff hand over

What we can and cannot say

Appetite is a medical topic for a lot of the patients who ask about it, and that puts it outside what a budtender should be answering. If appetite is part of why you hold a card, the conversation belongs with your provider.

What is on this page is a record of which strains come up when patients raise the subject at our counter. It is not a claim about outcomes.

Timing matters more than the strain

Patients who use flower for this generally use it close to a meal rather than hours before, because the window is narrower than people expect.

With edibles the timing is completely different. Start at 5 mg, wait two hours, and plan the meal accordingly rather than redosing.

Ask the counter what is fresh

Terpene content fades in a jar that has been sitting, and terpenes are a large part of why one jar smells like a meal and another does not.

We would rather sell you flower packaged three weeks ago under a name you do not recognize than a familiar name that has been on the shelf too long.

    Pick it up in person

Availability rotates with what our growers finish, so the live menu is the accurate source for what is in each case today. Valid OMMA card and matching photo ID required at both stores.

    Common questions

Which strains do patients mention most for appetite?

OG Kush, Blue Cheese and Bubba Kush come up most often at our counter. That is a record of conversations, not a medical claim.

Do sativas affect appetite differently from indicas?

Patients report both directions, and individual response varies widely. There is no reliable rule we would stand behind.

Should I ask my doctor about this?

Yes. Anything tied to a medical condition belongs with your provider, not with a budtender.

Are edibles a better option here?

They behave differently — slower onset, longer duration — which some patients prefer around meals. Start at 5 mg and give it two hours.
