    White Widow Strain

A frosted 1990s classic that still does exactly what it says.

White Widow is a hybrid strain from Brazilian sativa x South Indian indica, typically testing 18–23% THC and <1% CBD. It leans myrcene and pinene on the terpene side, smells like earthy pine with a sharp, almost peppery bite, and most patients describe it as balanced lift, warm body, conversational. It's a anytime strain that people reach for anytime use, patients who like classics, balanced effects — ask for it at RedBilly in Colcord or Roland, Oklahoma.

White Widow got its name from the trichome coverage — cured buds look dusted, almost white under a light. Coming out of the Netherlands in the 1990s, it was one of the first strains to make that appearance a selling point.

The smell is earthy and piney with a peppery bite that catches the back of your throat. It is a plainer profile than the dessert strains that dominate the shelf now, and some patients specifically want that.

Effects sit in the middle on purpose. A lift in the head, a warm settle in the body, and neither side takes over. It is one of the few strains where balanced is an accurate description rather than a hedge.

The parentage is a Brazilian sativa crossed with a resin-heavy South Indian indica, which is where both the structure and the trichome coverage come from.

Because it is so even, it works across the day. Patients use it in the afternoon without losing function and in the evening without needing a second strain.

It is also a common backbone in older crosses. If you like White Widow, the White family — and a fair number of the Widow-derived hybrids — will usually suit you too.

Availability rotates. Ask us at Colcord or Roland which classics we have in; the 1990s Dutch lines come and go depending on what our growers are running.

    White Widow questions we get

Why is it called White Widow?

The cured flower is heavily coated in trichomes and looks frosted white, which is where the name came from when it was released in the 1990s.

    Is White Widow strong?

It typically tests around 18–23% THC. That is moderate by today's shelf, though it was considered very strong when it was introduced.

Is White Widow indica or sativa?

A balanced hybrid. Both parents are landrace-derived, one Brazilian sativa and one South Indian indica, and neither side dominates.

Is White Widow good for daytime?

Yes, at moderate doses. It is one of the more day-usable classics because the body effect stays warm rather than heavy.
